About Me

My Orchids

Hi, my name is Vicky.

Born in Barbados, lived in Canada and now I reside in South Florida.

I'm working towards becoming a vegan. I'm trying to live more green.

My partner and I are self-taught gardeners constantly searching for new ideas and tip about gardening that will work on our large lot.

To date we are growing orchids, anthurium lilies, amaryllis lilies, kale, broccoli, collard greens, tomatoes, mangos, lemons, Jamaican ackees, moringa and lychees. Some of my plants have taken off, and others aren't cooperating. I have the time and patience to keep trying.

We are thinking about getting some chickens for our backyard, for the eggs and the manure. Perhaps a Summer 2014 project.

My partner and I have decided to live and grow as "green" as possible, using natural insecticides and composting. As we are doing this ourselves, I'm hoping this is a space where I can share my successes (and failures), live, learn and connect with others on a similar journey.
